“The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very
courageous: be strong, be extremely kind, and above all be humble.” — Serena Williams
A Fayetteville, North Carolina native, Ms. Tryphina Wiseman is the owner of both Wiseman Mortuary, Inc. in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Summerville-Boykin Mortuary in Garland, North Carolina (2020). She is also the visionary and owner of Cumberland Crematorium Center (2022), also in Fayetteville. Cumberland Crematorium Center is the only stand-alone crematory with a chapel in Cumberland County. Tryphina Wiseman is a courageous trailblazer. Her professional success is grounded on simply doing the right thing, no cutting corners and treating others like she would like to be treated. She is a strong and inspiring role model for minority women in business.
Ms. Wiseman received her formal education in Fayetteville, North Carolina and is a 1986 graduate of Fayetteville Technical Community College with an Associate of Science in Funeral Service.
She is the daughter of the late Walter L. and Lenora T. Wiseman, who together founded Wiseman Mortuary, Inc. in 1970. A regal, community gem, Mrs. Lenora Wiseman passed in December 2023 and with receiving her heavenly reward, the torch was officially passed to Tryphina. In upholding the family legacy of excellence, she continues to serve families under the motto “The hallmark of quality and service”.
Tryphina was “raised in the church” and has been an active member of St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Fayetteville for over 50 years and has served as President of the Missionary Society, Vice President of the Lay Organization, Director of the Young Peoples Department, Co-chair of the Finance Department, a Steward, Stewardess, Usher, and Choir member. Tryphina Wiseman loves her church and loves working in her church. She is also a proud member of Adah Chapter # 31, Order of the Eastern Stars.
The consummate professional and dignified funeral service licensee for nearly 40 years, Trypina is an active member in the Cape Fear District FD & MA of NC, FD & MA of NC, NFDMA and DMORT where she holds many accomplishments and accolades.
“Try,” as she is lovingly called by many, is a faithful and selfless philanthropist. The Fayetteville and surrounding communities know that Wiseman will support. She has extended the use of the funeral home chapel to several local churches to hold services during the aftermath of a hurricane or remodeling projects. These acts of kindness were always done out of grace and the will to help those in their time of need. Wiseman Mortuary, Inc. held a no-charge festival day with T-shirts, food galore, music and games for kids; Over 300 persons attended and what a time was had in the name of being a community pillar, leader, and community servant. The kind and unwavering inspiration she is, Try donates out of an abundance of love. #teamwiseman stands high in Fayetteville largely because of the beneficence, humility, kindness and entrepreneurship of Ms. Tryphina Wiseman.
